Violence at University: Pilot Research Project

Postdoctoral researcher role developing an anonymous online survey to measure all forms of violence and victimisation experienced by university students in the UK. Research, consultancy, survey design/development, and data analysis mapping university students’ experiences of victimisation.

Conducting additional one-to-one interviews with students to gather qualitative data to inform the study, with an expanded scope of student safety and wellbeing. (Oct 2023 - April 2024)

Funded by HEIF Knowledge Exchange fund. Collaboration with fellow academics, UUK, and NatCen. Survery delivered via Qualtrics. (Nov 2020 - May 2021)

National Centre for Social Research (NatCen)

Freelancer researcher on two projects: Firstly on cyberbullying and what more social media platforms could be doing to minimise online harms (July 2023). Secondly, on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on UK healthcare providers and users (Nov 2023 - Jan 2024).

Conducting one-to-one interviews (in-person and online), plus running focus groups with teenagers. Completed training on trauma-informed interviewing & safeguarding of young people in a research setting. Fully DBS checked and independently insured for professional indemnity (Hiscox).

Researcher-consultant role on ‘money muling’ (fraud/laundering) and grooming tactics used to recruit young people via social media.

Developed information briefings for the scriptwriters of educational radio drama workshops, attended meetings with the creative team and collaborated on a package of PSHE resources for secondary schools. (Dec 2020- Jan 2021)

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Surrey + Eagle Radio Ltd.

Project designer for ‘Online and Social Media Law and Ethics for Schools’ project (content, format, delivery, data analysis and annual reports for OPCC). This project provided specialist free education on social media law and ethics to local schools over four years, reaching 25,000+ pupils aged 8-18 years’ old across Surrey.
